This is a halted moment from the opening song sequence of the classic film Guide (Vijay Anand, 1965, Hindi). The song number, Wahan Kaun Hai Tera (lyricist: Shailendra, music composer and singer: S. D. Burman) narrates the journey of Raju Guide from his release from jail to dramatically mistaken as a sage! Raju was imprisoned for a crime he committed to retain his girlfriend. The song is on background. Raju, during his journey, takes shelter in a public garden. And, the filmmaker has subtly placed a couple-in-love on the background. The contextual full blown red gulmohur tree supports the feeling of love while the plain platform where Raju is resting, reflects the colorless life of the protagonist. The placement of the couple denotes the irony that all the sufferings of Raju are because of love and same is existing paradoxically here also.
This is how Life comes across astonishing encounters and gets reflected in films too!
